To DIY or Not to DIY? – That is the Question

DIY projects are great, aren’t they? Not only do you save money (usually), but you also get a chance to get your hands dirty and be proud of your work. Unfortunately, not every home improvement project is a DIY project. In some cases, calling a professional is probably better. Here is a list of some of the best and worst projects for DIY.

The Best Projects For DIY

Painting Projects

Painting is an inexpensive and relatively easy way to change the look of your home. Whether inside or out, paint protects your home’s surfaces and gives it a fresh, new look without breaking the bank. Just be sure you prep the surface to be painted properly for the best and longest-lasting results.

Backsplash Tile

If you’re new to tile work, replacing a backsplash enables you to learn the ins and outs of installing tile on a smaller scale than, say, a shower or bathroom wall. To make this project even easier, there are peel-and-stick options that don’t require a tile saw or grout for an easy-peasy DIY project.

Minor Roof Repairs

If you follow proper safety precautions, fixing minor roof issues like loose shingles can easily be a DIY project. A few nails here and some glue there will help keep your roof in tip-top shape. Just be sure you’re doing the repair right as an improperly maintained roof can compromise its integrity and lead to costly repairs later.
