6 Steps To Make A Fabulous Outdoor Chandelier

If you’re like most people, you love spending time outdoors in the summer. The weather is just right for evenings spent outside, so jazz up your outdoor space with this fun and easy tutorial for an outdoor chandelier.

Step 1: Acquire an Old Dining Room Chandelier

Remember that ugly chandelier you took down from your dining room but never got rid of? Go dig it out because we’re going to transform it into a thing of beauty!

What? You don’t have one? Then head to your nearest thrift store or peruse garage sales to find one. They’re really a dime a dozen, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding one.

Step 2: Remove the Wires

Since this outdoor chandelier won’t require electricity, you’ll need to remove all the wires and electrical parts. Simply cut the wires, remove them, and throw them away.

Step 3: Paint the Chandelier

Choose a color that suits your preferences and any outside décor you already have. If you’re creating an outdoor oasis, go with a color that matches its theme. Be sure to turn the chandelier this way and that as you paint to be sure you cover its surface completely and evenly. You may need to add more than one coat to cover it fully. Let it dry.

Step 4: Hang the Chandelier

Once the paint has dried completely, use the original chain and hang your chandelier where you want it in your outdoor space.

Step 5: Glue on Votives

The final part of the assembly process is gluing on some decorative votives to hold the candles that will light your outdoor space. If you don’t already have some, you can buy votives at the dollar store for cheap. Super Glue works well for this step as it holds up well to the elements.

Step 6: Add the Candles

Add a tealight candle to each votive and light. The light this chandelier with real candles gives off is amazing after dark. If it’s a particularly windy evening, however, you can swap the real candles out for fake LED tealight candles so you can enjoy this outdoor lighting source without worry.

If you’re creating an outdoor living space, add some ambiance by making this quick and easy outdoor chandelier for your space.
